Can You Buy a Tesla Cybercab? What Tesla Said About Dallas
Not yet, and probably not as a car you simply buy. On Tesla's third-quarter earnings call on October 21, 2026, executives said Cybercab service will launch in Dallas next month, and Lars Moravy said Tesla is trying to get Cybercabs to customers by the end of 2026, according to TipRanks and the Motley Fool transcript.
Elon Musk also said the Cybercab is primarily going to be offered as transport as a service, which Fox Business reported on October 22, 2026. Tesla has also been given until October 30 to answer a federal safety audit about the vehicle, so treat the year-end customer target as a goal, not a promise.
What Tesla said on the October 21 call
The Motley Fool transcript of the call, held Wednesday, October 21, 2026, quotes Head of AI Ashok Elluswamy saying "next month, we'll be launching in Dallas." Per Fox Business, Tesla is expanding beyond Austin, where the transcript says Cybercab operations began on September 3.

Can you actually buy one?
Moravy told investors, "We're trying to get Cybercabs to customers by the end of this year, 2026," as quoted by TipRanks. The transcript adds that the Cybercabs are currently going to Tesla's internal Robotaxi fleet, and Fox Business says most Cybercabs will stay in Tesla's fleet.

Ashok Elluswamy also said the first customer vehicles could join the Robotaxi fleet "somewhere around Q2 next year," per the transcript. A customer purchase price for the Cybercab could not be confirmed from the sources read here.
The federal safety question
Not A Tesla App reported on October 8, 2026 that NHTSA opened Audit Query 26002 on September 3, 2026 to examine Tesla's basis for certifying the Cybercab as compliant with federal safety standards. Tesla asked for eight more weeks, NHTSA granted 30 days, and the deadline moved to October 30, 2026. The Special Order contains 21 requests, covering items such as mirrors, rearview cameras and foot-operated service brakes.
TipRanks notes the Cybercab lacks manual controls that federal rules typically require. Not A Tesla App says the central question is why Tesla self-certified the vehicle rather than seeking an exemption, which it says allow up to 2,500 vehicles per year.

The transcript read for this page did not include an answer to an analyst question on the NHTSA review, so how Tesla will respond could not be confirmed.
