How we ranked these

We ranked each backpack on the capacity its maker states, largest first, using the base figure where a bag expands. Ties are broken by the lower published weight, with ounces converted only to put them in order. Every pick’s maker page states a laptop fit of 16 inches or larger; the Thule Accent and Timbuk2 pages say up to a 17" laptop, and Aer says it fits up to most 16". Prices were read on the makers’ own pages on Nov 7, 2026 and did not change the order. No more than two picks per brand. Replaced from the old list: Tumi Alpha Bravo Search (its page is blocked to plain page reads), Incase ICON (no 16-inch fit stated and sold out), WANDRD PRVKE (no 16-inch fit stated) and Knack Pack Series 2 Large (its official photos are too small); the Peak Design, Bellroy, Thule Subterra, Aer, Timbuk2 and NOMATIC picks were kept. Facts are taken from each maker's own published information; check the official site before you buy.
