Direct answer

On October 13, 2026 Apple announced the new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) in a press release titled "Apple unveils the new Apple TV 4K, supercharged by Siri AI." It costs $299 in the U.S., can be pre-ordered now and ships November 13. Pre-order it if you want the A19 chip, the new Siri Remote features or four-speaker HomePod surround; wait or skip if you mainly want Siri AI, because Apple says that works on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later.

The rest of this page sticks to what Apple's release says. It does not list storage options, physical ports or Matter support, so check those on Apple's store page before you order.

What Apple announced on October 13

The new box runs on Apple's A19 chip, which Apple says delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. It adds a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient streaming at lower bandwidth, and it has built-in Wi-Fi and Thread.

Apple prices it at $299 in the U.S., or $49.83 per month for six months through Apple Card Monthly Installments. Pre-orders opened October 13 at apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app in the U.S. and 29 other countries and regions, with availability beginning November 13.

What Siri AI does, and who gets it

Apple describes Siri AI as an entirely new version of Siri powered by the next generation of Apple Intelligence, with personal context understanding, broad world knowledge and more systemwide app actions. During playback you can ask follow-up questions in a compact overlay, and three far-field microphones support hands-free use.

The catch is in the availability notes. Siri AI is in beta on tvOS 27.2 and requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad owned by the home owner. Access is on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), so the feature is not exclusive to the new hardware. Launch languages are English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK, and it is not initially available in the EU on iOS or iPadOS.

If you already own an Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) or later and mainly want Siri AI, Apple's own availability notes suggest you may not need new hardware. Check the notes on Apple's page for your exact setup.

The home theater and smart home angle

Apple's release pitches four-speaker surround: the new Apple TV 4K with two HomePod mini 2 speakers in the rear and two HomePod (2nd generation) speakers in the front, or other matching pairs. The speakers detect their position and adjust audio timing and levels automatically.

It also acts as a home hub that controls smart home accessories and scenes, with automations, guest mode and HomeKit Secure Video with local processing. The release does not mention Matter.

The remote and what else is included

The Siri Remote keeps its familiar design and adds Find My support with Precision Finding and a sound-playback option. Apple says playing a sound is exclusive to the newest remote, and Precision Finding requires the Siri Remote (4th generation) and a specific iPhone model listed in Apple's footnotes.

The box also covers Apple Fitness+, Apple Arcade and the App Store, plus Apple TV app content including live sports such as Formula 1 (U.S.), Major League Soccer and Friday Night Baseball, and Continuity Camera FaceTime calls.

Should you pre-order or wait?

Pre-ordering makes sense if you want the A19 chip's speed, the new remote features or the four-speaker setup on day one. Waiting makes sense if Siri AI is your only reason, since it supports older Apple TV 4K models, or if you want reviews first: units ship November 13 and Siri AI is labeled a beta.

Apple's next launch is a separate matter. MacRumors reported on October 19 that Apple will announce a second wave of new products on Wednesday, October 28. MacRumors lists rumored Macs and an iPad for that date and does not list the Apple TV 4K, which was already announced on October 13. Treat those rumors as rumors.
