When Do 2027 TVs Come Out, and Should You Wait to Buy?
No 2027 TV lineups have been announced as of October 20, 2026. If the 2026 pattern holds, most brands will show new models at CES, which the show lists for January 6-9 in Las Vegas, and sets then reach stores over the following weeks and months. Last cycle, Samsung, LG and TCL unveiled at CES 2026, Hisense's mainstream sets went on sale on March 9, and Sony announced on May 27, 2026.
That means a TV bought now is a 2026 model that is about to be replaced. If you need one this year, Black Friday has historically been the deepest-discount window. If you can wait, January to spring is when new models arrive and last year's sets get cheaper.
This page only states release timing that the brands and outlets published for 2026. It cannot predict 2027 dates, which no brand has confirmed.
The typical release calendar, brand by brand
The most recent full cycle is 2026. Here is what each brand's own announcements show.
- SamsungShowed its 2026 lineup at CES 2026 (January 6-9), including OLED, Neo QLED, Mini LED, Micro RGB and The Frame, then rolled sets out through Samsung.com and retailers. Samsung Newsroom
- LGUnveiled the OLED evo W6 Wallpaper TV at CES in January 2026. On March 5, 2026 it opened pre-orders for the G6 (from $2,499) and C6 (from $1,399), with retail availability in March. LG
- TCLUnveiled the X11L at CES 2026 in a release dated January 5, with the largest models open for pre-order. TCL
- HisenseShowed RGB MiniLED sets at CES 2026, then put the U7 Series on sale March 9, 2026 from $1,299, with the U6 Series following in the coming weeks. Hisense
- SonyDid not wait for CES. It unveiled the Bravia 9 II and Bravia 7 II on May 27, 2026, with pre-orders live that day. Engadget

The takeaway: announcement and availability are different dates. CES shows what is coming, but a flagship can be on shelves in March (LG), later in spring (Hisense) or announced months after CES (Sony).
Have 2027 models been announced yet?
As of October 20, 2026, a search of the major brands turned up no announced 2027 TV lineups from Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL or Hisense, only 2026 models and early industry chatter. CES lists its next show for January 6-9, 2027 in Las Vegas, which is where most brands showed their 2026 sets.
When do TV prices drop?
The best-documented pattern is old but consistent. In a December 29, 2016 article, Consumer Reports said Black Friday is "indeed the time for the deepest discounts" and that the second-best discounts come two weeks before the Super Bowl, when it said stores clear older sets ahead of new models arriving a month or two later.
- Black Friday. Historically the deepest discounts, per Consumer Reports.
- Before the Super Bowl. Consumer Reports said Super Bowl sales pushed prices down by an average of 22 percent in that analysis. That figure is from 2016 and is not a forecast.
- Spring. NerdWallet lists Super Bowl season, spring and Black Friday as the three best times of year, and notes that sale-period purchases are often excluded from price matching.
Treat these as patterns, not guarantees. No source consulted here promises a 2027 sale date or discount.
TV technology to understand before you buy
- OLED. Per Samsung's buying guide, OLED pixels make their own light and can switch off completely, giving true blacks and high contrast. It is generally the more expensive option, especially at larger sizes.
- Mini-LED. An LCD technology with thousands of small LEDs behind the screen in local dimming zones. Samsung says it offers higher peak brightness for bright rooms and HDR. LG's guide covers the same comparison. Both are brand guides, so weigh the framing.
- RGB backlights. Sony's 2026 Bravia 9 II and 7 II are its first True RGB TVs, with independently controlled red, green and blue LED backlights, per Engadget.
- HDMI 2.1. The HDMI Forum says it supports 8K60 and 4K120, up to 48Gbps, eARC and VRR. Makers choose which features to include and must state which are enabled, so read the spec sheet port by port. A newer HDMI 2.2 exists.
- ATSC 3.0 (NextGen TV). The over-the-air broadcast standard enabling 4K, HDR and immersive audio. ATSC says you need a TV with an ATSC 3.0 tuner or an external tuner box.

This page does not compare QD-OLED with standard OLED because no maker or standards-body source was checked for it.
Buy now or wait?
Buy now if your TV is broken or you will use a deal window you can see, such as Black Friday. A 2026 model is not obsolete when 2027 sets are announced; it is usually the one that gets marked down.
Wait if you want the newest tech and can hold off until CES (January 6-9, 2027) and the spring release window. Expect no 2027 prices until brands publish them: launch prices for LG's 2026 G6 and C6 and Hisense's U7 are listed above for comparison only.
In between: check the spec sheet for the HDMI 2.1 features you need, and confirm the exact model year in the retailer listing, since last year's set may be sold new next to this year's.
