Current role and company
Y Combinator's people page lists Friedman as Managing Director, Software and General Partner. A conference speaker page calls him Group Partner and also Managing Director, Software, so job-title wording differs between sources. Our queue listed him only as Partner, which understates the role. We found no primary page that gives the date he became Managing Director, so this page gives none.

Leadership style and philosophy
The pages we could read give limited first-person material. The one direct quote we found is his 2010 statement about Scribd's shift from Flash to HTML5, which shows a willingness to rebuild a product's technical base. We do not infer a wider philosophy from it.
