How we ranked these

This list is strictly local, same-screen co-op: every pick must let players share one screen, either split-screen or a shared camera, so online-only co-op games were left out. We read each game’s Nintendo of America store page (players on a single system), its Steam store page (price and local co-op categories), its main Metacritic page and its OpenCritic page on November 3, 2026, and scored every game on the same rubric: players on one screen (2 points for 4, 1 for 2), the Metascore (3 points for 90 and up, 2 for 85 to 89, 1 for 80 to 84) and platform families with a one-screen co-op version among PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC (2 points for all 4, 1 for 2 to 3). Maximum is 7 points; ties go to the higher Metascore, then to more critic reviews. The Metascore is the one shown on each game’s main Metacritic page, so for Rayman Legends it is the 2013 release, not the Switch Definitive Edition. Diablo IV is scored on PlayStation and Xbox only, because its couch co-op is console-only. OpenCritic lists the original Snipperclips rather than the Plus edition, so Snipperclips Plus shows no OpenCritic score. No publisher received any adjustment; prices are listed store prices and can change. Facts are taken from each maker's own published information; check the official site before you buy.
