How we ranked these

This list covers battle royale games that are free to play and live today, on any platform: last-player or last-squad-standing matches on a shrinking map. Hero shooters and arena games without a battle royale mode, such as Marvel Rivals and The Finals, were left out. We read each game’s main Metacritic page on November 3, 2026, and scored every game on the same rubric: the Metascore (3 points for 85 and up, 2 for 80 to 84, 1 for 75 to 79, 0 under 75 or with no score) plus platform reach from the platform list on that page (2 points for PC, console and mobile, 1 for two of the three, 0 for one). Free Fire has no Metacritic page, so its platforms come from its Wikipedia entry. Maximum is 5 points; ties go to the higher Metascore. Players per match come only from the publisher or a platform store; we did not use third-party player estimates. Steam peaks from SteamCharts are listed for context where a game has its own Steam app, but they are not scored, because Fortnite and Free Fire are not on Steam. The Metascore is the one on each game’s main Metacritic page, which for multi-platform games may reflect one version. No publisher received any adjustment; prices are listed store prices that can change. Facts are taken from each maker's own published information; check the official site before you buy.
